      how do I get to your painting studio?

      the best way to reach us is by tram line 4, getting off at the sportweg or toni-areal stop. from there, it's a 2-minute walk to ceramic malbar. we are located right next to coop and the six building at pfingstweidstrasse 106.

      can I park at ceramic malbar?

      there is a parking garage with paid visitor parking spaces inside the building. additional parking space are available across the street at the migros herdern or at the hardturm parking garage.

      how does ceramic painting work at ceramic malbar?

      simply choose a ceramic piece, paint it with our special colors, and we’ll take care of the glazing and firing. a few days later, you can pick up your artwork.

      do I need an appointment?

      you can drop by anytime, as we have plenty of spots available. however, we recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends, during school holidays, and in the lead-up to christmas.

      how much time should I plan for painting?

      the time needed depends on your ceramic piece, the painting technique, and the chosen design. some complete their artwork in 20 minutes, while others take up to 3 hours. our recommended time is 2.5 hours.

      do I need to bring anything?

      you don’t need to bring anything with you except a good mood and joy in experimenting. we will provide everything you need for painting.

      what colors are available?

      we offer a wide range of glaze colors that can be mixed. you can combine them however you like.

      are the colors safe, and can I wash them out of my clothes?

      yes, our glaze colors are food-safe, non-toxic, and secure. they are also water-soluble and can be easily removed from clothing at 30°c.

      malbar to go - what to do with leftover paint?

      you can bring it back to us or store it in an airtight container for your next painting project. the colors have a long shelf life and can be easily stirred up with a bit of water.

      is the ceramic dishwasher- and microwave-safe?

      the ceramic is dishwasher-safe but not suitable for the microwave.

      how long does it take until I can collect my finished ceramic piece?

      after you paint your ceramic piece, we glaze and fire it. you can collect your finished piece after 3-5 days. for an additional fee, we can also mail it to you.

      malbar to go - can I paint the ceramics at home and bring them back for firing?

      yes, you can take blanks and colors home. after painting, you simply bring the ceramics back for firing.

      malbar to go - how long does the ceramic need to dry before it can be sent back to you for glazing and firing?

      one day of drying time is enough before it can be safely packed and sent to us for firing.

      malbar to go - can the fired ceramic be sent to a different address?

      yes, please include a note with the new address in the package with the painted ceramic.

      can the fired ceramic be sent as a gift?

      yes, for an additional fee, we’ll gladly package and send your gift. please provide us with the shipping address right after painting.

      do you offer a firing service for self-made pottery?

      yes, you’re welcome to bring your handmade pottery pieces to us for the bisque firing. information on dates and prices can be found under the firing service section on our website.

      is there an age limit for painting ceramics?

      newborn babies leave their first footprints on our ceramics just after a few days on earth. the colors are non-toxic and can be easily washed off hands and clothing. children can start exploring the world of ceramic painting as soon as they can hold a brush.

      is your ceramic suitable for outdoor use?

      the ceramic is not frost-proof but can be used outdoors during the summer.

      is ceramic painting for me, even if I’m not creative?

      no worries, anyone can paint, and you’ll get great support from our creative coaches. we have lots of tools available to help you fully express your creativity.

      what’s included in the displayed price?

      the displayed price includes the selected ceramic piece, your choice of colors, and the use of various support materials. a time slot of up to 2.5 hours in our studio, along with the glazing and firing of your artwork, is also included in the price displayed.

      how much does ceramic painting cost?

      the cost depends on the chosen ceramic piece. the price includes colors, glazing, and firing. special colors, like gold, and shipping by mail are charged extra.

      when do I pay?

      once you’ve finished painting your ceramic piece, you pay at our checkout. the following payment options are available: twint, credit card, cash, or our prepaid customer card.

      does the ceramic have to be painted in one session?

      no, you can paint the ceramic over multiple sessions.

      note: there’s no additional charge for colors, but we charge an extra 25 chf for each additional 2.5-hour time slot to cover the reserved space and storage of your artwork in progress.

      are there any discounts for groups or kids' birthdays?

      yes, we offer special packages and discounts for groups and kids' birthdays. contact us for more details.

      can you print gift vouchers with you?

      yes, this is possible. you can purchase a gift voucher or customer card on our website and give it as a gift. you can add a personal message to the voucher and send it directly to the recipient. He or she can immediately download or print the voucher.

      i received a gift voucher. how can I redeem it?

      the voucher includes a qr code and a gift code. bring the printed voucher or the one saved in your apple/android wallet to our studio, and you’re ready to go!

      can I view my artwork online after firing?

      we currently don’t offer this service, but you’ll be notified by email as soon as your piece is ready for pickup.

      can you bring food and drinks into the studio?

      unfortunately, this is not possible.
