how do I get to your painting studio?
our ceramic malbar studio is located in hard turm park, in district 5, and is just a
10-minute walk from the hardbrücke bridge. the best way to reach us by public
transport is by tram line 4, getting off at the sportweg or toni-areal stops.
from there, it's a 2-minute walk to our ceramic malbar studio. we are right
next to the six convention point building and the coop supermarket. the migro
parking lot is diagonally across the street. our address is pfingstweidstrasse
106, 8005 zurich.
can I park with you?
there is a parking garage in hard turm park where you can park.
how does ceramic painting work for you?
simply select a ceramic blank, paint it with our special colors and we will take care of the glazing and firing. a few days later you can pick up your work of art.
do i need to make an appointment?
you can drop by spontaneously at any time, as we have enough space. however, we recommend that you make a reservation, especially on weekends, during school holidays and in the run-up to christmas.
how much time should I plan for painting?
the time required depends on your ceramic piece, the painting technique and the chosen motif. some create their artwork in 20 minutes, while others need up to 3 hours. our guideline time is 2.5 hours.
do I have to bring anything?
you don't need to bring anything with you except a good mood and a love of experimenting. we'll provide you with everything else you need for painting.
which colors are available?
we offer a wide range of glaze colors that can be mixed. you can combine them as you wish.
are the colors safe and can I get it out of my clothes?
yes, our glaze colors are food-safe, non-toxic and safe. they are also water-soluble and can be easily removed from clothing at 30°C.
paintable to go - what to do with leftover paint?
you can return them to us or store them in an airtight container for your next painting project. the colors have a very long shelf life and can be easily remixed with a little water.
is the ceramic dishwasher and microwave safe?
the ceramic is dishwasher safe, but not suitable for the microwave.
how long does it take until I can pick up my finished ceramic piece?
after you have painted your ceramic blank, we will glaze and fire it. after 3-5 days, you can pick up your finished ceramic piece from us. for an additional charge, we will send it to you by post.
paintable to go - can I paint the ceramics at home and bring them back to be fired?
yes, you can take the blanks and paints home with you. after painting, you simply bring the ceramic back to be fired.
malbar to go - how long does the ceramic have to dry before it can be sent back to you for glazing and firing?
one day of drying time is sufficient before it can be safely packaged and delivered to us for firing.
malbar to go - can the fired ceramics be sent to another address?
yes, please put a note with the new address in the package containing the painted ceramics.
can the fired ceramic be sent as a gift?
yes, we will be happy to package and ship your gift for an additional charge. please give us the shipping address immediately after painting.
do you offer a firing service for homemade ceramics?
yes, you are welcome to bring your homemade works of art to us for bisque firing. information on dates and prices can be found under the firing service section on our website.
is there an age limit for painting ceramics?
after just a few days, newborn babies leave their first footprints on our ceramics. the colors are non-toxic and can be easily washed off hands and clothing. children can explore the world of ceramic painting as soon as they can hold a brush.
is your ceramic suitable for outdoor use?
the ceramic is not frost-proof, but can be used outdoors during the summer.
is painting ceramics something for me, even though I'm not creative?
don't worry, anyone can paint and you'll get great support from our creative coaches. we have lots of tools at your disposal to help you fully develop your creativity.
what is included in the sales price?
the sales price includes the selected ceramic blank, your choice of color and the various consumables. a time slot of up to 2.5 hours in our painting studio, as well as the subsequent glazing and firing of your work of art, are also included in the price.
how much does ceramic painting cost?
the costs depend on the blank selected. the price includes the colors, glazing and firing. special colors, e.g. gold, and delivery by post are charged additionally.
when will payment be made?
as soon as you have finished painting your ceramic blank, you pay at our cash desk. the following payment options are available to you: twint, credit card, cash or our prepaid customer card
does the ceramic have to be painted in one session?
no, you can paint the ceramic in several sessions.
note: there is no additional cost for the paints, but for each additional time slot of 2.5 hours we charge a surcharge of 25 chf for the space occupied and for storing your work of art.
are there discounts for groups or children's birthdays?
yes, we offer special packages and discounts for groups and children's birthdays. contact us for more details.
can you print vouchers?
yes, this is possible. you can purchase a voucher/customer card from us on our website and give it away. you can add a personal message to the voucher and send it directly. the recipient can download or print the voucher straight away.
i received a voucher. how can I redeem it?
there is a qr code and a gift code on the voucher. bring the printed voucher or the voucher stored in your apple / android wallet with you to our painting studio and you can get started.
can I view my artwork online after firing?
we do not currently offer this service, but you will be notified by email when your item is ready for pickup.
can you bring food and drinks into the studio?
unfortunately this is not possible
